about

Since the Nicolas Jaar remix of Kasper´s cover version of Heaven back in 2009, Kasper Bjørke has always curated his remixes with a steady hand and a strong sense of who is the right producer to transform his music into something else - which not only contributes to his original but also adds a different flavor. Strong acts like Marvin & Guy, Gerd Janson, Mano Le Tough, Michael Mayer, Rebolledo, Superpitcher and many more have all made memorable interpretations of Kasper’s work through these years - and now its time for an impressive and brand new batch of remixes: A double Remix EP, once again with a carefully selected and diverse list of amazing contemporary electronic artists.

Kasper says: “I reached out to artists that are either friends of mine already or artists that are in my current network through these past many years of touring - I admire them all and their musical skills and I am grateful for each of their contributions to this double remix EP, which I am both very proud of - and that I think interprets all the original tracks on my double EP Nothing Gold Can Stay” in their own unique way. I really think that through remixes you get a chance to rediscover your own music and enjoy it again in a different way - especially as a DJ, which these new version are obviously meant for”.

Seabird - Tensnake Remix
Luckily Tensnake was already a fan of the original version of Seabird by Alessi Brothers - so when we asked him to remix my cover version (made in celebration of the 10 year anniversary of my last cover version, of the Rolling Stones track “Heaven”) thankfully he said yes right away! I’m amazed that he managed to turn it into a full- blown disco party anthem, which I never would have succeeded with myself. I hope his version will make Seabird fly to distant shores!”

Du Du Du - Each Other Remix by Justin Strauss & Max Pask
“Justin Strauss and Max Pask are amazing artists and DJs in their own right, who are now doing music together in the new outfit Each Other (they recently released their debut EP on Soulwax’ label Deewee). I have known Max since my first gigs in New York maybe 15-16 years ago and through his involvement in Throne of Blood Records where I released an EP with Colder a couple of years ago - and I became friends with Justin since we started playing B2B gigs together years ago. Justin actually also delivers the spoken word piece on the title track of my EP. When I asked the guys to do the remix of “Du Du Du” (feat. Tomas Høffding from WhoMadeWho) I had a feeling they would re-create it into something more powerful and housey for the dance floors than my own post disco production! And they sure did! Absolutely thrilled to have them on board!”

Du Du Du - Marcello Giordani Remix
“Marcello Giordani aka The Italian Stallion from Parma and I have known each other since I asked Marvin & Guy to remix my single “Cloud 9” back in 2016. Besides being part of M&G, Marcello is also producing amazing Italo Disco music under his own name while running his Italo Deviance blog. So, I had to have Marcello do a version of “Du Du Du” feat. Tomas Høffding (of WhoMadeWho) which already has a very distinct 80ies feeling - but I knew that Marcello could enhance that vibe by his musical sense of classic Italian Disco - and I think he made the perfect version, with playful arpeggios and wonderful synth stabs complimenting the Danish vocals by Høffding in a really perfect way! The remix is a brilliant dance floor starter and I have already experienced it do its magic many times!”

Water - Bostro Pesopeo Remix
“I really love the sensitivity in Bostro Pesopeo’s production work - and as I was looking for the right remixer for to work on the first single from Nothing Gold Can Stay, which is very downtempo and intimate, I wanted someone who could get inspired by that and do something which maintains that atmosphere. His remix work on Permanent Vacation shows exactly that kind of intimacy - so it was an obvious choice to ask him if he wanted to do it - and luckily he said yes! Its a dark beauty!”

Nothing Gold Can Stay - Kasper Bjørke Ambient Version
“It somehow just felt right to do a even more slowed down take on this closing track of Part A of my double EP. I love Justins voice and how he recites the Robert Frost poem in such a gentle way… and I wanted to bring his performance forward to the beginning of the track instead of having it at the end, as on the original version. Besides changing the tempo and stripping it down to its bare bones, I didn’t do many changes to it. I always find it difficult to revisit my own work once I have finished it - but in this case it was an easy and intuitive process; this is obviously not for the dancefloor so I think that its best enjoyed on headphones at home - or on the road”.

Nothing Gold Can Stay Part A + Part B were released on hfn music in October and November 2019.

Nothing Gold Can Stay Part A + Part B Remixes are released on May, 22nd and June, 12th.

Kasper Bjørke Copenhagen, Denmark

There is a distinct thread that runs through Kasper Bjørke’s vast body of work. Whether it’s an instrumental club jam, a radio friendly affair, one of his forays into the more ambient side of things - the DNA is unmistakably Bjørke’s. Finding that perfect balance of emotion and groove. Though the musical scenery might change over time, Bjørke's sound and vision is clearly evident throughout. ... more
